Filmotion is proud to announce the success of its first official 3d test shoot.
The shoot was conducted in preparation for the up and coming “Wildlife Man” 3D series which will air later this year on Australian television. The series has managed to attract the likes of “Sky Uk” and “Directv” and other networks across the globe thirsty for stereoscopic television productions.
The test shoot has been a breakthrough in 3d stereoscopic film and has succeeded in addressing the initial concerns of filming in a rugged environment and being able to capture fast moving objects such as snakes, lions, elephants and marine life-without causing vertigo.
The success is mainly credited to the development and design of Filmotion and David Ireland’s own 3d camera rigs and techniques. The rigs are able to support two Canon prototype camera’s (now being upgraded) at a relatively small interaxial distance and are built in a durable yet portable manner to accommodate the harsh and ever-changing conditions. This includes filming in some of the most remote places across the globe. The rigs had to be designed specifically to enable deep underwater filming. A special case was designed to fit over the rig pictured above.
“David (Wildlife Man) and I wanted to create a camera rig that allows us to carry the gear over long distances, sometimes more than 14 kilometers. We also wanted a camera rig and system that allows us to record left and right camera perspectives at the same time and allow us to quickly adjust the iris and focus settings simultaneously. The processes we’ve developed with the help from our sponsors, we’ve been able to achieve outstanding results” Co-Producer Fred El Harris explains.
3D stereoscopic conversion
Filmotion productions has been converting films and videos to stereoscopic 3D in Australia since 2005. We conform to international standards and know what works – whether it’s television or cinema.
Although the process can be technical, our quality control ensures a high quality 3D stereoscopic conversion that works without the 3D headaches. We also organise a “DCP” Digital Cinema Package conversion for final delivery. For more information contact us!
